This garden was designed as a walk-through garden to show visitors to the show the journey our rainfall takes and the importance of biodiversity, reducing water waste and effective water management in our modern-day environments. This interactive garden gave visitors an immersive experience whilst still demonstrating beautiful planting from various environments.
Central to the garden is a rainfall pavilion showing the essential cycle of water that we all rely on to live and grow. A blooming flower meadow is a miniature version of sprawling urban wetlands and a drought tolerant planting section shows how planting selection can be key in managing water resources. The garden also demonstrates water management for food production and how we can reduce the pressures on our infrastructure and prevent flooding in our homes and community spaces.
The garden design has created an exciting and educational experience for visitors and demonstrates a number of take-home aspects including planting styles, permeable paving and rainwater storage and management. The garden was a totally immersive experience for visitors and proved incredibly successful in starting conversations with visitors about climate change and water conservation.
