Senior Horticulturist

Senior Horticulturist
London | Full-time | Highly Competitive salary and benefits for an exceptional individual

About us

Garden Club London is a multi-award-winning garden design and build company based in Blackfriars. Our small, dedicated aftercare and planting team looks after only the gardens we have designed and built, from roof terraces to urban courtyards and private residences across the capital.

The role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Horticulturist to take a leading role in that team. You’ll be working with our Horticulture and aftercare Manager, taking responsibility for keeping our gardens performing at the highest level long after handover, through sustainable, proactive and detail-led care that protects the integrity of the original design.

This is a hands-on senior position. You’ll manage a portfolio of gardens, set the standard for quality on the ground, support and develop junior team members, and act as a trusted point of contact for our clients, many of whom are high-profile and expect discretion and professionalism.

London gardens come with their own challenges: tight access, rooftop logistics, parking and working around busy households. You’ll handle all of this calmly and see it as part of the job.

There’s also the chance to contribute to special projects, including our work at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering high-quality maintenance and planting across a portfolio of London gardens
  • Leading on plant establishment, pruning, pest and disease management and seasonal planting
  • Spotting issues early and recommending improvements to clients and the design team
  • Planning and organising your site visits, materials and workload.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior gardeners
  • Building strong, discreet relationships with clients and their households
  • Keeping accurate records, including photos and garden log updates

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years’ professional horticultural experience, ideally in high-end private gardens or soft landscaping
  • Expert knowledge of plant establishment and maintenance, including pruning, pest and disease control
  • A genuine passion for plants and a strong interest in planting design
  • Highly organised and proactive, with excellent timekeeping
  • Confident, polished communicator, at ease with high-profile clients and the wider team
  • Comfortable with the realities of working in central London: driving, access and logistics
  • Competent with the admin that comes with the role
  • Recognised horticultural qualification (RHS Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • PA1/PA6a and CSCS card desirable; training can be provided

Why join us

A competitive salary for the right person, a role where your expertise shapes how award-winning gardens mature, and real opportunities to grow with the business and take part in exceptional projects.
